Council Agenda, Jan. 12/15

Busy Day!

Hello Ward 2 residents — here is the link to tonight’s Council Meeting agenda.

I have been hard at work meeting with staff and residents and researching past minutes and agendas, as there are a couple very important agenda items that will be addressed tonight that concern our ward.

The agenda item with the potential for significant impact in Ward 2 is Finance Department Report Number FR-2015-02 Re: Nobleview Drive, Petition for Local Improvement. This is of high importance because it will lead to a deeper conversation regarding the proposed Phase 2 of the sewer project.

Design for Phase 2 has been included in the upcoming 2015 budget. The Phase 2 design process will allow the Township to be in a ready state to move forward and in a stronger position to take advantage of any grant monies from the federal and provincial governments should they become available. As a Council I believe we need to actively find ways to reduce the cost of Phase 2 and provide answers and timelines to our residents. The residents of Nobleview Drive have worked diligently on their petition for local improvement and would like to move forward with the installation of sewers on Nobleview with a 2015 completion date. As a Council we need to give fair consideration to the proposal.

Another item that is up for discussion is the fee hike for the Curling Club. The Curling Club has asked Council to review the increase for ice surface rates, as it would ultimately lead to an increase of membership costs of $39.00 per member.

We will also be presented with the Cold Creek Conservation Area Strategic Plan Draft. Council staff and residents will have time to review the draft and the opportunity to share comments.
